What it is

A thin stream of very high-pressure water mixed with fine abrasive cuts through metal without heat.

Best for

Thick plate, aluminum, and parts that must not warp or harden at the edge.

What you need

A DXF or DWG drawing, or a sketch with measurements.

When to choose waterjet over laser

Waterjet cuts with high-pressure water and abrasive, so the metal never heats up. That means no hardened edges, no warping and no discolouration. Choose waterjet when your plate is thicker than laser handles well, when the part will be welded or machined after cutting, or when the material is heat sensitive.

Common jobs

Base plates, thick flanges, tooling and fixture plates, aluminum blocks, armour and wear plate, and parts that go to a machine shop afterwards.

How it works

How waterjet cutting works

  1. Water and garnet

Water at very high pressure carries fine garnet sand through a small nozzle.

  2. Cold cutting

No heat means no warping and no hardened edges, so parts are easy to drill and tap.

  3. Thick material

Waterjet cuts plate far thicker than a laser, up to [X]" thick.

  4. Any material

Steel, stainless, aluminum, copper, brass, plus rubber, plastics and stone on request.

Quick answers

Is waterjet more expensive than laser?

On thin sheet, usually yes, because waterjet cuts slower. On thick plate the gap narrows and waterjet is often the better choice.

Does waterjet leave a rough edge?

Edges are smooth with a fine sandblasted texture. There is no slag or heat scale.

Can I order one waterjet part?

Yes. No minimum order.
